My name is Katelyn Holohan, I go by Katie, and I am a junior at Florida State University. I am 21 years old and I am from Sarasota, Florida. I have lived in Sarasota for 15 years but I was born in Nebraska. My major is Family & Child Sciences with a minor in education as my end goal is to become an elementary teacher. I work at a daycare whenever I go home and I worked with special needs children a lot when I was in high school and enjoy helping others. I love to travel and have been lucky enough to visit many different countries at such a young age. When I graduate I hope to move across the state and be able to travel and see more of the world.
As technology advanced while I was growing up I used laptops that we were assigned in elementary school and were able to bring home with us, we would do assignments and projects on them. In middle school, we used laptops and desktops at school and I had my own laptop at home that I could work on for my schoolwork. My freshman year of high school I was required to have an iPad and I would do all of my schoolwork on there for every class and take home with me as well. For the rest of high school I went to a different school but was still expected to have a laptop or desktop at home that I could complete my school work on. Now, obviously in college I use technology for all of my school work as well.
In this class, I hope to learn more about other technology products because I have grown up with Mac products and I think it would be beneficial to learn more about different brands so that in the future I would be familiar with multiple different types of technology. As well as this, I hope to become overall more comfortable with using technology. I would also like to feel comfortable enough to use technology in my own classroom and to guide my own students on how to use certain technologies. I also hope to learn what the benefits of using technology in the classroom are, as well as the downsides to using technology in the classroom.

Welcome to EME2040! I am delighted to hear that you are open to learning about products outside of the "Mac family." While some schools primarily use Macs, others are strictly PC. It's great for you to have familiarity with both!
ReplyDeleteIt's cool that you like to travel, that's also one of my goals is to travel more! That's also crazy that you were required to have an iPad in high school but I bet it has helped a lot.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad that you're expanding your horizons in order to provide the best for your students and future students! I can see that you care deeply about your students and I hope you continue to overcome all horizons and provide your students with nothing but the best!
