I have used Microsoft Word in order to write essays for my classes and complete assignments. I grew up using a Mac so most of the time I would use pages because that's what Macs would come with. However, I became familiar with Word because of all of the other Microsoft applications you could get with word. Pages is also hard to convert and submit assignments if the other person doesn't have a Mac so Microsoft makes it easier to do assignments so I know my document will be compatible with other computers. I have seen my teachers use it to write their syllabus or grading rubrics for students to look at.
Growing up in the classroom and using technology, I was taught that copyright and plagiarizing and all of that stuff was a very serious consequence. I was always taught to write things in my own words and when I use information from a cite or other resource, to properly cite it so the people receive credit for their work. It is very important for teachers to follow this as well when presenting their lesson plans and work for their students to complete. It is important for teachers to remain having creativity and authenticity while also following their curriculum. If they do use an idea from a remaining lesson plan or other teacher or other resource it is important that they give them credit. This will also help teach their students to do the same when writing essays and researching information.
Academic dishonesty can be worked to improving by checking your student's work in detail to see where they are getting their sources and if they are being cited properly. Along with this, keeping a close eye on your students in class to make sure they are not cheating on assignments or tests. When students turn in their work, you could have them turn it into a website where it gives you the percentage of similarity that it matches up with other work. Cyberbullying is a big and difficult issue to conquer because it is hard to prove who is doing it and also hard because students demand their privacy. Take your students seriously if they come to you and say they are being cyberbullying and have the school get involved and look more into it. You could also contact their parents to discuss with them the issue and if they have talked to them about it. It is important to take this issue seriously because you don't want to ignore the student and have the situation get worse or have the student feel like they have no one to go too or no one cares enough to take them seriously. I am not too sure how the process goes in order to solve this issue but I think the first step is creating a safe place for your students so they feel like they can come to you when they are having issues like these.
